i may be late to the party but i just found out about this free service from usps. you can enroll your address online and you get a daily email with photos of letters and package info coming to you in the mail that day! super cool!

especially if you're not home and you can send someone to your house to get a package or letter etc.

I hate mail. We are enrolled in paperless billing and online bill pay. Also cancelled all recurring catalogs and mailings.

The majority of mail received now is unsolicited junk mail. Such a waste of paper and postage. Does this service allow you deny and cancel delivery. I would LOVE that!

I have also cancelled junk mail and have mostly paperless bills but dh insists on having some paper bills. I have to pick my battles. Try cancelling some of those unsolicited credit card applications! Its like trying to talk to the pope!

Even still there are letters and bills (doctors visits, lab copay, car registration, my professional registration etc) that come regular mail. No i dont think this service allows denial/cancellation loll but i think its a great suggestion!

I've actually been doing this for about 4 years. It was offered to me before it went out to the general public. It is just for information. You can not reject a delivery. And sometimes the mail they tell you is being delivered is not, but comes a day or two later. It's novel and fun but ultimately not really that useful unless you are waiting for something. But even if you are, you may get home and it is not there. The email comes at about 7 am as to what will be delivered but I still have to wait for normal delivery time.

DH uses it but I find it useless to be honest.
The only thing it does is make him worry if he sees a letter coming from the IRS or his pension bureau or something.
He'll be like- oh man, what is this going to be about?
I always say- better to not know and just get the mail when it comes. Why think about it for 3 days prior? Chat Icon

It does not tell you all packages and only gives you a tracking #. And then it will tell you if something is coming soon but not when.

The vast majority of my packages are via UPS and Fedex so this doesn't help me much.

I know UPS offers updates. I signed up for it and always forget I have it. But when I do check my emails I Siri I get one when it’s going to be delivered that day with a four hour estimate a time and then I get another email when it is actually delivered.

The only thing I can think of that's more boring and annoying than all the junk mail I receive is getting emails with pictures of all the junk mail I'm about to receive. I can't even imagine the piles of emails I would have to delete on top of the piles of junk mail I have to throw out Chat Icon

It is one email with images of the mail you will receive, so it is not a problem.

I get my mail late in the day, so for me it is good- unless at 7:30 am I see something I am going to receive and I have to stress about it all day.

Also- it says mail is coming soon. Sometimes you don't get that piece of mail for another day or so. You wonder, OK how come you can't just deliver this.
I like that it makes the USPS more accountable. Although I don't know at what point in the process the mail is scanned.
Overall, I really like it.

Sounds like a waste of USPS employees time and resources to be taking photos of mail and emailing it. If you are waiting for something important isn’t that what tracking numbers are for?

I tell my husband this is the modern day version of seniors waiting for the mailman. (My father used to do that)

Informed Delivery usps

I look at it every morning while I drink my coffee. It shows us bills and real mail/invitations etc but only shows some junk and no catalogues/mailers etc. I think it's great.

Same! USPS isn't doing anything extra. They already scan all the mail. Now they're just giving you access to see it.

I love it. The only thing is that sometimes I forget to check my mailbox when I know we aren’t getting anything important- so sometimes the mail sits for days.

We have used this service for a few months and I love it. It is helpful to know when to expect an important letter, invite or package. Its only 1 email so not overbearing at all

It's scanned through the automated postal machine and that's how it takes a pic. No one is standing there taking pics of people's mail.
