Insert Foot In Mouth

Man, I had a real foot-in-mouth moment and being a generally paranoid person, I really feel bad!

Okay, we were at a function with my in laws today and yesterday, I had gone to see my SIL's GORGEOUS Vera Wang masterpiece of a gown. I took some photos of it for her. Anyway, I said, "I want to show my mother how beautiful it is on you, but I won't show it if you don't want anyone to see it beforehand." (Some ppl don't want their gowns shown around before the big day) Well, OOPS. I totally meant that my mother was 100% going to SIL's church and that's where she'd see it, but I instantly realized it sounded like I was being forward and thinking my parents were invited!!! Chat Icon So I right away said, "Oh my gosh--I totally didn't mean for you to invite my parents; I just meant that of course my mother will come to see you at church on your wedding day." Of course she told me to relax, that my parents were absolutely invited and already on the list. But man, I feel sooo bad. I am beating myself up! DH is telling me not to be silly, that of course his parents want mine there, but still.

you're right, I am sure. It's just that it SOUNDED so ugh...and the last thing you need during planning is having ppl who think they're invited, etc, but I know my MIL would never NOT have my parents, but still....it was just...eh.

I agree!!! I'm the same way though. I always over-think what I say... I'm sure she didn't even think anything of it! I had to read your post a few times before I even got it. No worries!!!

I agree... Don't stress... .Want to talk about foot in mouth. I was visiting my cousin who's father had a heart attack and died on New Years... She asked me how my dad was and I said "he's good a pain in the arse but good.... "

Re: Insert Foot In Mouth

Thanks, girls....I'm trying to remember if I was this way before I got married, but I don't think I was! A whole lot more people to worry about now. Trouble is, I'm fine how I am, and I need to know that and trust myself more.

Re: Insert Foot In Mouth

I wouldn't worry at all. When I read what you wrote, I didn't even think that you were presuming your parents to be invited. But if your parents are close to your ILs, then there is no worry at all. I am 100% sure that when my BIL gets married, my parents will be invited. I think that it usually the case, unless the inlaws really don't get along.

Man, you are paranoid. LOL. Just kidding, Lana...you're sweet to worry so much, but I doubt anyone would think you overstepped your boundaries. Chat Icon
