Install of the Car seat...
when did you do it? I know there was a list on here of authorized places, but do you put it in yourself, then have them inspect it, or do they install it?

DH did it himself, he did it around 34 weeks.

But did someone need to "ok" it? Why do they provide that list of various police stations?

inspections are optional...
dh installed in about 10 minutes before picking us up from the hospital

As the pp stated, inspections are optional. He followed the directions and I checked it to make sure it was secure, and at the right angle.

We are going to let me dad attempt to install it b/c he thinks he can do it perfect. Then we are going to bring it to be inspected and hope they said he did it wrong.  Not sure when to do it, but I don't want to wait to long in case the baby comes early.

DH is going to install them probably next weekend (2.5 weeks before my c-section). He actually got insulted when I said we should have them inspected after  . I'm sure he can do it just fine though.

I am the car seat installer in my house and sometimes for my friends too.
I never got it inspected, but a friend of mine who was a cop once told me that when people came to the station to ask them to inspect their car seat they didn't necessarily know any better. This was in Brooklyn, though.

Funny you ask this question...I am having my sister install the car seat tomorrow i have no clue how to do it and she is a pro at it..all my friends that gave birth had her install their carseats as well I am 35 weeks
