Re: Installing a cultured marble vanity top?
You absolutely should not do it yourself. If the marble was to crack, well you would be out the money and it's lots of $$$$. If the company cracks it while installing, well, it's their problem.
Marble is VERY POROUS and STAINS easily.
I would not recommend it for your home for several reasons...
1. Unless it's a master bath, marble and kids/general public do not mix. Again, it is porous... any cleaning fluid and a lot of bottles, tubes, etc. of product that is typically found in a bathroom will stain/eat right through the finish on marble.
2. It is $$$$$$$$. I have it in my Master Bath. Why? It's Carerra marble (Italy), DH and I were engaged there and it always reminds me of such. That being said, it's in our bathroom (adults only), I'm planning on staying in this house for at least the next 25 years and well, I have family in the business... I did not pay retail for it.
You are essentially flipping a house. You need to put in the most middle of the road, neutral, stands up to everyday bathroom traffic counter you can find.
I suggest you get an integrated sink top like I have in my hall bath. It's cheap, clean, neutral. Just pick up one from HD for $100 and call it a day. You are sinking way too much money into selling this house.
You will not get your return for your dollar on marble unless EVERYONE in your neighborhood that is selling a home also has it.
First two pics, Carerra marble top. To give you some idea of price at current prices... about $600-850 (depending upon the marble chosen). just for the top... not the cabinet, not the sink and not the fixtures Do not spend that type of money in your circumstances.... you need to maximize profit.
Third, my integrated sink top. Mine was made to order because the sink is off-center and it needed to be but still cost a lot less. You can pick up a stock one, with cabinet and hardware for less than $300 at HD. Your faucet about $100.
HTH. I hope you take these tips to heart. In the world of a quick flip/sale, you do not need to spend a lot of money to get a great looking, clean, new looking space.
Remember, aren't you already upside down on this mortage?
Not to be harsh, but a marble top, and other luxury extras, will only put you further in the hole. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Installing a cultured marble vanity top?
I think it's a different material? I was told it was a Cultured Marble? It's the same material as the stock double sinks in HD. I was just interested in getting it in a custom size w/double sinks. Total will be $431.00 w/tax, but no installation. Since it's custom it's going to cost a little more. The stock one goes for $299.00. That's just what they told me is the name?

Woops
I didn't read the word "cultured".
Didn't see it I'm running on three brain cells these days...lol.
Yeah, that's comparable to formica... price range at least.
Honestly, for what you are doing, I'd go with whatever is priced the cheapest.
Sorry
