Installing Crown Moulding
My DH and I want to install crown moulding ourselves. For those who did it themselves, was it difficult and what kind of problems did you run into if any? Any helpful advice or tips? TIA!

Re: Installing Crown Moulding
We did our whole first floor, well DH did. It took him forever, especially cutting the inner corners and outer corners because the crown molding had a design on it (braided rope). But it looks great!

Re: Installing Crown Moulding
If you're not experienced with a mitre saw, I'd recommend using the corner blocks. They eliminate the need for mitred corners - and they have a nice look to them. We used them in the first room we did - and we get rave reviews from friends and neighbors. Though we didn't use them in every room, I sometimes wish we did...they look cool.

Re: Installing Crown Moulding
My DH started out using the corner blocks at our old house and has since graduated to usinga miter saw - it took him a few pieces to figure it out but once he did WOW it looks great....you can do a search on google to get some tips as well as ask for tips where you get your lumber from. Good Luck...my Dh said it was tricky at first but once you figure it out youre like DUH....

Re: Installing Crown Moulding
We just did our dinning room and let's just say it was an experience! Whatever you do please buy "practice" pieces. We screwed up a couple of pieces and had to run out and buy more. In the end the headache is so worth it. I can wait to start our family room.
