Instant Flower Garden

I just saw on QVC the "instant flower garden". It is a roll that contains seeds. You cut the roll to fit any space or container and place over loosened soil in full to partial sun. Then add water.

Was just wondering if anyone had tried this and if it is a nice and easy as they show on TV.

Re: Instant Flower Garden

I bought it and had trouble the first time I planted it, but the second I watered it twice a day and it did come up with flowers.

Re: Instant Flower Garden

I've never tried it but I would never plant flowers without knowing what they are. You won't know if they're invasive or poisonous either. Not good! Chat Icon

The do tell you what kind of seeds they are. I really don't think QVC would sell something poisonous.

Re: Instant Flower Garden

I tried it last year and it worked great. I have a sprinkler system so they got watered twice everyday. I think if you make sure you water them everyday it will be ok.

Re: Instant Flower Garden

Sorry Jill, I didn't realize they had the list of names. That's great that they do that because whenever I saw them in stores, they never said what was in it. Chat Icon

There are really common flowers that are poisonous to animals or children, that I never knew about. Azalea, gardenia, hydrangea, morning glory, poppies, clematis... I was really surprised to find out how many of them there were that were dangerous.

Good, I thought my first comment make have come off aloof when I read it again. Chat Icon

Did you know poppies are where opium comes from? And Foxglove is where the cardiac med Digitalis comes from?

I sure didn't! Chat Icon

But I also found out that the spice Saffron is from Crocus flowers. And Vanilla is from orchids.

Re: Instant Flower Garden

I would save my money and buy the real thing and plant them yourself.
