It's interesting! I personally favor vaccines as there are more prons than cons to them.
I think it's also a duty to researchers to study possible side effects links with vaccines. I don't think questioning effects of vaccines should be stopped.
Otherwise, if nobody will ever question anything how do we even make progress in medicine.
I think the research was blown out of proportion but I think it was a valid research in the first place.

IMHO, I think this looks like "witch hunting." The council doesn't like the conculsions that the study drew and they are seeking to discredit the doctor. I think this is very scarey because scientists and doctors should be doing research that questions the status quo when necessary. This just shows the how bad the backlash can be if you go against the mainstream. I don't think that's good for anyone.

His research methods were un-ethical, thats what is strange. Apparently he took bloods from children at a birthday party...strange.

Wakefield also faces a charge that he acted unethically by taking blood from children at a birthday party after offering them money and without proper ethical approval.
This is not a witch hunt - this is BAAAAAD science!!!!

ITA - I don't think that they were going after him for questioning the vaccines I think it was b.c the way he collected his research was unethical. I am very much in favor of studies on the effects of all vaccines - not just for autism reasons - but they is a protocol and ways to conduct an unbiased study.

My reasons for calling it a witch hunt go beyond what was touched on in the article. I have followed this study and the doctors who participated faced heavy pressure to retract their findings. Many of them were strong-armed into doing so.
There is a lot more to this than what was in the article.
