ETA: My son is on SOY too, not for allergies though. I was going to transition him to SOY milk? I am going talk to my ped about this.

Re: Interesting article on Soy & Rice Milk
I wonder if that applies to soy-based infant formula? I can't imagine that soy formula doesn't have all the nutrients necessary...

Re: Interesting article on Soy & Rice Milk
hmmm, most soy milks are well-fortified with all the major nutrients...the soymilk I give my daughter is actually MORE fortified than regular cow's milk!
I guess they are focusing on the problem of maybe giving soy milk as formula which is obviously wrong or not choosing a fortified drink. Either way, when you're child is allergic to milk, you really don't have too many other options

yeah - I was curious to where there pointwas. I know most soy milk is calcium fortified and have the same if not more of the basic nutrients that whole milk has. Kevin can't have whole milk and we did a comparison and ped agreed.
I did hear recently that soy formula isn't the best for babies development but not sure the reasoning. I know my ped was against me going to soy and preferred the alimentum or even lactose free formula over soy. Not sure why though. I just went with what they said was my best option which was alimentum and once I went there they advised me not to change until whole milk.
