Re: Interesting bathroom

We saw a bathroom like that while househunting. It's a 1/2 bath, right?? DH thought it strange, but I thought if it's in good condition, we'd live with it til we were able afford expanding the second floor. We ended up making an offer on a different house.

Re: Interesting bathroom

I would think that the window was to make the outside look symmetric or something like that.

Maybe having a small storage space, would have been better use of space

Re: Interesting bathroom

The window is probably just there to give it some light without having a skylight.

It's an undormered Levitt where they wanted a second bedroom upstairs.

Re: Interesting bathroom

It may look strange, but I have to say, that's a great use of space. I mean, if it wasn't a bathroom, would you want wasted space in your house? I think it's clever design wise. Get the most sq. ft. for your house.

Defintely, and you've added a second bathroom making your house more desirable without having to pay for the dormer.

Re: Interesting bathroom

Those bathrooms are in the undormered ranch or A shape homes. If you get the cape style you won't have that problem. Chat Icon

Re: Interesting bathroom

I had a very strange bathroom in my old Levittown apartment.....very very strange. The shower was seriously a regular tub but the curtain curved around so you actually only showerd in half of the tub -- because the ceilings were slanted!

I wish I had pics of it! It was horrible! Plus there was irridescent wallpaper in it!

ETA that I had the same thing with the small window --- that did open and it was nice for light and a breeze in the spring/fall --

also beside the tub since the bathroom slanted down that way there was an extra storage cabinet. It was low down and you had to duck to get to it but it was a great place to keep towels, extra TP, bathroom supplies, etc.
