interesting information about madonna perinatal

so i was at the obgyn today getting a sono. i mentioned to the tech that she was so much nicer than the techs at madonna and that they wouldn't tell me much at all--even what they were looking at.

she told me they're NOT ALLOWED to even tell you what they're looking at because they're a radiology lab and are under those guidelines. only the doctors there can give you information. she said she would be fired if she works there because she likes to explain everything.

now it all makes sense why they're so cold there. if only they would TELL PATIENTS that--i would totally understand instead of thinking they're heartless people.

thanks for the heads up i have my first appt. there on the 18th w/ dr klein. i hate unfriendly people so i am so glad to have the warning and now i will go in there prepared

WOW, I had the total opposite experience at Madonna in Babylon. I loved my tech. She was amazing and very comforting. I was there for my amnio and I had some issues that I needed other sono's for. I always had the same tech and loved loved loved her. She did repeatedly tell me that she was not a Dr and could only say so much, but everything she said was very comforting.

With my first DC, Madonna was within my OBGYN office. the Madonna tech was nice... She would tell me what we were looking at but would never give results to you, just try to reassure you the best she could without saying too much.

I went to Madonna in Garden City with this pregnancy (or is it Minneola) and she told me what we were looking at and also told me that everything looked great. Must depend on the technicians! BUT they don't do any 3D sonos there at your Level II.

I think there is a happy medium to all of this.

I went for a fetal echocardiogram this week, (not at Madonna) and the tech could have easily explained what she was doing.

Instead we sat in silence for half an hour, as I was sweating that something was wrong.

I understand they can not tell you any specific info or diagnose, but they can tell you what they are doing to make conversation.

I bet stony brook is the same with its ultrasound techs.

they wouldn't even tell me the measurements they were taking. I had to put my glasses on and read them as they flashed on the screen.

I've been to Madonna in Babylon 4 times so far.

Only once I got a nasty tech. I thought the other techs were awesome. A little standoffish when answering my questions, but I knew since they were only techs they aren't really supposed to tell the patients anything.

When I made my ultrascreen appt with Madonna's Babylon office, I asked the receptionist if the tech would tell me anything and she told me no. She explained that if there was anything wrong that the tech sees, a doctor would be brought in to speak with us. I had remembered that ladies on here said the techs don't say anything, so I made it a point to ask the receptionist. She was really sweet and explained it all to me. I'm glad I know that now so I am not nervous next Tuesday when I go for mine!

I had no problems with the techs at Madonna. I did have a problem with their front desk staff who messed up dates/times for 2 of my appointments.

I found the techs to be very friendly and they explained everything.

This was is the Mineola office.

at mineola never had a problem they always told me what they were looking at.

ya - it would be nice if they would tell us that ahead of time.

for my ultrascreen the girl barely turned the monitor , i could barely see the baby. I tried propping myself up on my elbows so i can turn my head easier and she told me to lay back down !
