Interesting news story on Fox 5 today about vaccinations and tylenol
It basically said that you shouldn't give tylenol to your child right before or right after vaccinations because it lessens the effectiveness of the vaccine. It said being able to start a fever was the bodies way of making it immune. Never heard that!

I never heard that either. My ped always recommends a little Tylenol after certain vaccines to help with the fever. Interesting.

Seriously?! I hate when they come out with these new tests suddenly.
DH just brought Mason back from the Ped for his 4 month appt. He had two shots and the Ped said to give him some Tylenol if there's any reaction. What are we supposed to do if the kid gets uncomfortable.

Well my understanding of it, was that I think its okay to start giving tylenol a few hours later once your see a reaction. It was more saying not to give tylenol before or right after without even knowing what would happen. That's was my take on what they said! That's what I usually do anyway, because I don't want to give tylenol if not necessary.

Re: Interesting news story on Fox 5 today about vaccinations and tylenol
I can believe it. It makes sense to me to some extent.
The fever comes from the body's immune response to the vaccine. Hence if you bring down the inflammatory process by giving tylenol, you may inhibit certain antibody production.
Curious what drs will say about this and why this hasn't been addressed before by the medical community.

It was a very short segment, not even sure if most doctors will hear about it. It seems like different doctors have different opinions on when and if to administer tylenol anyway!
