Interesting speculation

I was just remembering how awhile ago my mom was telling me about when she was Trying to Conceive. Back in those days there were no OPKs or Early Response HPTs, so you just basically did your temp and then saw a doctor only after AF was about a month late. (sounds very frustrating to me). Anyhow, she was telling me about how easy it was for her with my older sister - they got pregnant on the first try with her. The same with my younger sister. But for me, she said it was kind of random, because she did think that she was pregnant with the first try. She had done everything right and even felt all of the symptoms she had with the first, including a missed period. So she was CONVINCED that it was her month. However, about a week later her period arrived and she was so confused, but tried again the following month and had ME.

I remember when I heard that I just assumed for some reason or another she didn't BD at the right time. But now, i'm starting to think that she probably WAS pregnant and m/c. Ya think? Because that's pretty much exactly what happened to me. I had all the symptoms (as well as the BFP on the HPT - which was not available to her) and for me, the m/c also appeared as just a week late period.

I think it's interesting that my mother (and soooo many other women) have probably experienced a chemical pregnancy without even knowing it because there were no tests to inform them. They probably just assumed AF was late. Isn't that crazy? I almost envy them in way...

Yup! Thats why I say sometimes technology is bad...doctors told women to come after htey missed 2 periods...and if they got AF in between they just thought their period was that late....and in reality it was probably a m/c. that's why I actually beleive the percentage of m/c is higher than 20%...I bet you sometimes peoploe don't even know!
I think sometimes I'd almost rather not knowing....

I completely agree with you. I had the same symptoms 1 cycle before I conceived and then MCed. I suspect that I had a chemical pregnancy prior to the pregnancy that I actually knew about. I have never had those symptoms before or since.

I am trying to wait to POAS until I am REALLY late, b/c I have long cycles, and I kind of don't even want to know if it a chemical.

I know it is almost better not to know and not go to the doctor tilll a month after a missed period. I think they say miscarriage rate is about 50% of women- but some with be chemical pregnancies- before many women even knew they are pregnant and that it happened.


It might be better without our technology today.
That's why they got pregnant in a lot less time than our generation. 1rst- they usually started at a younger age....but #2 They didn't have all the testing that we had with OPK's, and HPT which cause all the stress and OCD to come out! hehe Stress is such a big factor in delaying pregnancy.
