Suit. I would go dark. But any suit. My friend interviewed and wore a dress and one of the feedback comments she got was that she should have worn a suit. This was for a school job too.

Neither is appropriate. A dark suit in navy or charcoal grey .

Unless you are interviewing with a very stiff fanancial institution, I don't see anything wrong with a well taylored beige suit.

This. I really think it depends on the industry.
I work for a large technology company and if someone came in to interview for a manager's job in a well tailored beige suit nobody would think twice.
Even a nice, business appropriate dress would be fine. But we are a very casual kind of company.
Nobody wears suits other than on interviews and when going to see a client.

I think it also depends on the fabric. If it's a beige silk suite then yes, it's a bit too summery, but if it's thicker fabric then it's perfectly fine for winter.

Thanks everybody. The job is in a hospital. She went with the beige suit. It was not summery at all. A 3 piece suit...skirt and jacket, and the "shirt" was a tailored piece that buttoned up the back, and acted as the "blouse", but it was the same fabric as the suit. Not linen or silk, not really sure what the fabric is, but it's regular "suit" fabric. Made by Jones New York. She wore black shoes and jewelry. Looked very nice.
