Re: Interview Friday
I usually have 3-4 work related references and 3-4 non relative references. Those tend to be what I have been asked for in the past.

Re: Interview Friday
I use people I've worked with in the past (old co-workers) and a friend who is a professional, who I could trust to give me a great reference. Good luck!!!

Re: Interview Friday
Do NOT use Danielle, and its best not to use your friends either.
You want people who can talk about your work ethic, etc. They should be previous supervisors or co-workers, educational mentors, people you volunteered with, customers, or business acquaintances.
Your list of references should have the same header as your resume and should be printed on resume paper. You should provide the potential employer with all the pertinent information for each reference, including full name, title, company name, business address and contact information.
Also, make sure you ask each reference if it is ok for you to list them as a reference - if they aren't comfortable serving as a reference its best they tell you and not the potential employer. It also gives them a heads up that they may be getting a call. If you have any further questions, please let me know.
ETA: Don't forget to give each reference an updated copy of your resume so they know about your accomplishments. And always send a thank you letter when you know a reference has spoken to an employer on your behalf.

Well, they will ask the people how they know you, so it would be kind of weird for Danielle to say, "I am married to him." I would put your supervisor unless you really do not get along and 2 other people you have worked with. I put my supervisor, a co-worker who is a friend but has an impressive title, and another supervisor but not of my area.

They generally don't call references until they are ready to make an offer, at which point you'd need to let your work people know.

Re: Interview Friday
Scott, Most employers will understand if you ask them not to call your supervisor unless they are going to extend an offer, because most peoples' bosses don't know they are looking.

Def agree with that. Use colleagues from your previous job, or someone that has an established position.
