intralipid transfusions

For those of you who had to have this done, how often did you have the transfusions?

Were they covered by your insurance?

I just read another post where a few girls mention that it was expensive.

On top of the $$ factor, I'm trying to see how often I'll need this, on top of lovenox.... good thing I'm not afraid of needles! Chat Icon

Re: intralipid transfusions

I just had my first intralipid infusion last Wednesay. It was about $400 (not covered by my insurance) and Dr. B said that if this IVF cycle works (going for my ER today) then I would have 3 more infusions (one a month until 20 weeks)

Good luck to you!

Re: intralipid transfusions

I only had 2 one before one after.. it came to about 500 each time.. Please do not pass on this no matter what.. At least do the 2.. I know I was in the worst financial situation in my life when I had to do this too.. Dh oow a long long time.. but I used my last $$ for this.. I believe its my reason for success.. I really really do.. GL Chat Icon

Re: intralipid transfusions

Ins companies cover prescriptions for toenail fungus and minty-flavored BCPs, but not intralipids. How frustrating is that?!

Re: intralipid transfusions

My insurance paid for the intralipids themselves but not the infusions if you did it at home. I went to the NYC office to have it done, so I just paid copays.

Re: intralipid transfusions

thanks you guys for responding.

Oh, I'm doing it- that's not an option. I just wanted a general idea of what I was looking at. Humm... he said they'd come to the house, but, if I can go to the NYC office and have it done and only pay the co-pay- that seems like a vialbe option! I'll have to ask about that! Chat Icon
