Introducing berries? spices?
What age did you introduce spices like cinnamon? When did you introduce berries? How long were your DC eating solids at that point?

Re: Introducing berries? spices?
I just started berries last week. DD is just over 6 months but has been on solids since 3 months

Re: Introducing berries? spices?
I just 3 day rule for everything, including spices and started around 6m with everything. DS started solids at 3.5m, we started early but very very slow.
We use a lot of exotic spcies in our cooking, tumeric, sumac, cumin... as well as the usual thyme, basil, oregeno.. So I would just add a little to his veggies. Also adding flavor helps to widen their palate so that they are more receptive to new foods.

Re: Introducing berries? spices?
I don't remember when we started with spices. Berries we were told (and I read) to wait until a year because they are so highly allergenic. Blueberries we started around 10 months I think, because they don't fall under that same category.

Re: Introducing berries? spices?
I pretty much let my DD try anything except berries, fish and nuts. She is almost 6m and has been on solids since a little before 3m. Im going to ask my Dr about berries at her 6m check up but as lenient as I am with her, these 3 things scare me because I am so deathly afraid of her having an allergic reaction. Although DH and I arent allergic to anything.

I make all of DD's baby food, but check out the jarred varieties for ideas. I was a little when I saw berries in stage 2 foods b/c my ped recommended that I wait until 9 months. I think I read that cooking the berries kills the allergens? Does that sound right?

I make some food, but not all. That's awesome that you make everything!!
He's had Earth's Best Stage 2 foods which include blueberries and raspberries... his ped is totally fine with it. The only berry he wants us to wait on is strawberries.
I'm not sure, if you were allergic to strawberries or something, I don't think it would matter if they were cooked or not. I could totally be wrong though!

Re: Introducing berries? spices?
DS was no breastfed so our ped has us holding off on berries, kiwi, and peanut butter until after he's 1.
he's had cinnamon in some thing we've given him but not regularly or on purpose. i usually like lots of spices and spicy food, and DS is now eating what we do for dinner. i've cut back on the spiciness for now, and am gradually adding more and more. DS is 9 months and has been on solids (not purees) since 6 months
