Introducing Solids
I will be introducing solids to DS next week and was wondering if it is ok to start giving cereal at night only. I will be working and want to be the one to feed him cereal, but at night is the only time I can feed him. Is this ok?

Re: Introducing Solids
honestly, it's best to introduce new foods at breakfast that way if there is an allergic reaction, you can see it during the day.
If a particular cereal makes them gassy it's easier to deal with in the day than overnight when they need their sleep.

I agree. This way you can see your little one's reaction to the cereal you give him. You wouldn't want a fussy baby during the night.

This is what I had always been told too but when we were told to start introducing solids, the ped. told us to give the cereal at her last feeding. I don't really understand why.

Re: Introducing Solids
I started at night because it was easier for me. We gave it to him about 5pm at night. With work it was too hard to try and do it in the morning. We figured at 5pm by the time we went to bed we would see if he was allergic. Plus it usually takes 2 or 3 days for a reaction to occcur so I think you would be fine. That is why they say to only try a new food once a week.
Have fun

Thanks everyone! I definitely see everone's points and I'll wait to see what the ped says and then make a decision.
