INTRODUCING-The newest member of the family at the FARM!!!
My great-Aunt has had this parrot for 21 years, she got him when he was three months old. She has had a bunch of illnesses & injuries lately. My two adult cousins live with her but neither of them are mentally capable of caring for him. So I told my aunt a while ago if she decided it was too much we would take him. DH has wanted a parrot & let's face it when you have seven chickens, a rabbit & a dog one more critter isn't a big deal
So she finally decided it was time.
We picked him up on Sunday. He has a HUGE vocabulary. He sings, whistles, immitates voices he hears & responds to questions.
Without much further ado, meet MARVIN

He says goodnight, hello, hey-who cut your hair man?, pretty bird, thank you, no thanks, come here please, he says the names of a bunch of people in my family, he coughs like my late uncle & even puts his foot up on his chest because my uncle held his chest when he coughed, he meows, makes monkey noises, beeps like a fire alarm with a dead battery, he whistles Andy Griffith, he knows every curse word, he sings a family song my cousin taught him.....
the list goes on.

He is georgous. I have a Timnah at home. A little bit small but man the vocabulary. I have always wanted to get a congo. Is Marvin good with you? I know African Greys usually take to 1 person. Mine certainly only takes to me. She HATES DH and the feeling for DH is mutual. i guess it is cuz i habd raised her and DH was not around then. GL with him!

Well he really was my Aunt's bird, but he LOVED my Uncle before he passed away, my cousin (their son) also taught him a lot of his vocabulary & he spent a lot of time with him. He knows me & when I would go to their house he'd hear me & call me.
Now that he's here he is ok with me but he loves Rich. Tonight was the first time we opened his cage, we wanted to make sure Jack the dog was ok with him. Marvin came out, went on the floor & I couldn't get him to come to me. Rich went over & he climbed right up on his arm then did the most hilarous dance & clicked & hummed a little song he really didn't want Rich to put him down. He let me hold him for a minute but he was much happier with Rich!

its really funny.
He's also impressing us now with "gimme a kiss" , "good bird", he says hello when the phone rings.
I think everyday he remembers more words. His life has been pretty boring at my Aunt's lately. I think he's enjoying being the center of attention.
