Is 10.5 months too late to do a modified CIO?

DS has been great with sleeping through the night for the most part but lately he is giving us trouble. I hit my last straw last night when he was up from 3:30-4:30 when DH finally just brought him in to bed with me.

With DS#2 coming in 6.5 weeks, I feel like I will NEVER get sleep at this rate. We never put DS in his crib at night after a bottle, instead DH usually lays with him in our bed as their "time" together. I think we need to change this bc that is why he can't self-soothe at night. Plus naps are a diseaster lately. I stil with him for 30 minutes until he falls asleep & then he goes in his crib for 30-40 minutes.

Any advice?

It's never too late. Some people choose not to do any STing until close to 1 yr. Good luck!!!

At 10 months out of the blew he became a bad sleeper. Went from STTN for 12 hours at 4 months to waking every hour at 10 mons. It was so bad. Found out his top two teeth were coming in.
For a few weeks it was a nightmare. Rocking him then putting in the crib only for him to wake up shortly after Chat Icon Chat Icon

As soon as the teeth came through he was already in the bad habbit. He was walking around the crib all night and we took out the mobile b/c he was pulling on it. SOmeone recommended the soundspa that plays music for a long time and projects pics on the ceiling. I went out at lunch that day and bought it. That night made him CIO playing the music and show in the room. CIO for almost an hour (on and off).
2nd night 20 mins and has been fine since.
He's almost 14 mons and we still use it every night. Once in a blue moon he'll wimper when I leave the room, but he's ok.
Hope that helps Chat Icon
It is a bad phase, but he'll get out of it

I'm in the same boat at 13 months!! DD was a great sleeper from day one no issues from Bassinett to Crib and then we moved new room and house and teeth and it went down hill!! I need to get on board and really get this under control. I feel bad hearing her cry. I'm gonna look into that thing they can see on the ceiling for her room!!

It's not too late. I just went through something similiar with Tommy. He was STTN fine and all of a sudden starting waking up during the night. After a few really rough nights I started doing it. Also, at bedtime, I made the mistake of rocking him to sleep and now that he is older, when I put him down in the crib he would wake up and scream. So I had to start putting him in drowsy but awake and leave..which killed me. Slowly but surely the crying got to be less and now he know it is night night time!
