Is 15 weeks to early to CIO?

I have 3 problems I need help with:

1- I have to rock him to bed every night and if I don't do it long enough he wakes up as soon as I put him in bassniett.

2- When he wakes up for a feeding I am rocking him to sleep again and if I put him down to early he won't go back to sleep.

3- In the day he is a great napper but needs to be constantly moving either in a swing or stroller. How do I break this one as well?

Thanks

I would say 15 weeks is a little too early. Start a bedtime/naptime routine. At naptime feed him and make the room dark and maybe put music on so he starts to know that is time to sleep.

At bedtime do bath, bottle a book and then into the crib. May take awhile but he will eventually catch on.

I agree w/ the PP about getting a routine together. Start doing the same thing for bedtime or naps and eventually you will see you DC start to get sleepy during these routine. CIO is still too young.

If swaddling the baby doesn't work, try reading the No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley.

She has some great tips which are too extensive to list here.

And do wait until closer to 6 months to try CIO.

Good luck!

yes - it's too early. Read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.

Also - is the bassinet in your room? Maybe you should put your DC in the crib?

yes...what helped me in those long hours was the thought that i will probably live till 90. i will do this rocking nonstop thing for one year and have the other 89 to be rock free.

good luck

My opinion may not be popular (Chat Icon ) but, you can do a VERY MODIFIED CIO at 16 weeks..ONLY 4-5 minutes AT THE MOST..compared to a full blown crying at 6 months..
at 4 months old, AND 11 lbs, babies no longer NEED to be eating through the nite, and usually they are waking for comfort..i wouldnt let dc cio necessarily but i WOULD just take a lil longer to get in there then theyre used to.
