I don't know...dd is pretty verbal so grandparents have been asking if I'm going to potty train this summer. I think it's kind of young, no?

We thought so too but DC was showing interest at that age and we just went with it and was fully trained at 2

I started him getting used to sitting on the potty and discussing it around that time. He gets on the potty a few times per day now, nearly 23 months. But he only sits. He announces he needs to pee or poop and runs for the potty. SOmeday he will do it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But I wouldn't say we are potty training. Guess we will call it announcement and sitting training.

Depends on the child, but it's not really about verbal ability.

It has more to do with how long they can stay dry and a few other cues. Being able to control their bladder just has more to do with being able to say "potty" is all I am getting at.

We started DS at 24 months. We packed up all the diapers, he picked out a potty and we went through this whole ordeal and he's doing well with it so far. He was staying dry through his naps (2-3 hours) 5-6 days a week for about a month and had a few random dry nights so we decided to start him.

Taylor is in pull ups now becuae she tells us when she makes pee pee and #2 so we thought it was time and she likes to sit on the potty--sometimes its a hit or a miss.

give it a shot. I see no reason why you should give it a try.
