Not that I wish that on myself or anyone..but I think if it were a choice, I would ask for it. I'm so ready to see her.......I just want the next 2 months to FLY!

**** Of course..ONLY if she would be healthy. I guess I'm just anxious to see and hold her. I would not want her to come out if there were risks involved****

Re: Is 27 weeks too soon for the baby to come out?

My friend gave emergency birth to her son at 26 weeks. He was only 1 lb 1 oz. He has had tons of medical problems and at least 10 different surgeries. He is now 6 yrs. old and still has some minor problems but he has not had an easy life.
Unfortunalty some people jsut cant carry to term.
I hope you hold out much longer though, for a healthy safe pregnancy.

I read a bit on this.

A baby is most likely "viable" by 27 wks but could have medical problems later on.

I edited my post...and added "only if she would be healthy". I realize how crazy it sounded.... sorry.

I think I get your question.
I think if there were guarantees that the baby would be healthy alot of moms would since we are eager to see our little ones. So far there ar eno gurantees and I am thanking God for each day my lil miss stays inside.

There is a snake that can shorten her pregnancy by up to 103 days just by sunning herself and keeping her body temp up-I was like-Oh boy if only I could do that.

With my history of preterm labor and delivery 27 weeks is a milestone for me...mostly b/c of the viability of the baby...I just want to get to 28 weeks so I can relax..

Now I dont want him born at 28 weeks but if he has to come early please let him wait until then!!!!

Today was actually one of my hurdles 22 weeks...first gestational age where there is viability....

He's in there...moving around and kicking up a storm...so now my next hurdle is 24 weeks...and so on....

My doctor did a whoop whoop when I made it to 36 weeks with Hyperemesis last time. Are you scared of delivery? Its easier than HyperemesisChat Icon

Re: Is 27 weeks too soon for the baby to come out? **UPDATE**

I say it to myself all the time - I want this baby out at 37 weeks. I was so petrified that he would come out too early.

I know what you are saying about if it were to be healthy could he come out! I think that 40 weeks is a LONG time to be pregnant and someone should work on shortening that a little bit. Chat Icon

I'd take 30 weeks! Chat Icon

Not really scared of delivey all that much, maybe some.

Even all the hyperemesis issues didnt scare me this pregnancy , it was the memories of my daughter dying due to pre term labor.

I have never made it in a pregnancy to 27 weeks, so 36 weeks is like a dream.

Re: Is 27 weeks too soon for the baby to come out? **UPDATE**

At 27 weeks, the stories of lasting disabilities far outnumber the children who wind up being perfectly fine. And viability is way different than being fine.

2 years ago, a girl in my undergrad program gave birth to her son at 26 weeks- and today he's a perfectly normal 2 year old. A pilot I worked with had a son born the same time at 28 weeks, and his son died.

No rhyme or reason to it. I'm still nervous she'll come early- 37-40 weeks is just fine by me.....
