For this size, i wouldn't sit any further back then 7 feet for optimal viewing.

but how far are you going to be sitting to watch this tv?
for the room, it is small...say you have guest over and your trying to crowd around the tv to watch something, the far people (further then 10 feet) wont see much.

Probably about 12 feet. Right now it is about 10-11 feet away.

Recommended size would be 50, 42 or 47 would work. If you are viewing computer text from your tv in high def, you will not be able to make it out.
To test the tv size, i would take some printer paper or something and measure the size of the tv to get an idea and then sit that far back.
Personally it is small but to each their own.

Yes way too small. I would go at least 46-47".
I have a 52" at about 10" viewing distance.

I had a 32 inch in that same size room, and it was tiny. We had to go out and get a bigger tv.
