Is a Hotdog the worst thing you could give your child to eat?

Someone I used to work with recently told me that. I mean yeah it's probably not the healthiest thing to give them but is it the worst thing ever to give them? Maybe she said this cuz I told her that my DS has eaten hotdogs (not on the bun of course) and he is not even 2 yet. He'll be 20 months on Monday. He actually likes it and eats it so willingly...

I think they are fine as long as you are giving Boars Head or Hebrew National or anything with 100% meat. No ballparks or any of those nasty ones!

Not the worst thing, but make sure you cut them the long way and then in smaller pieces. They are a choking hazard. We know a pediatrician who told us every summer he loses a few patients to hot dogs and popcorn.

I probably wouldn't give them to DD to much, cause we don't really eat them here. Only occasionally.

I really don't think there is a big deal to healthy or not health - cause it is the same for us as it is for them.

I just know that they are a MAJOR choking hazard, so you have to be careful of how you give it to your child

HOt dogs that containe Nitrate cause a greater chance of your child getting cancer, read the link i posted above, i never knew this

I give DS turkey franks a few times per week- he eats no other meat really since he is so picky.

everyhing in moderation....see if u can get nitrate free...

I usually give him turkey franks unless he gets his special treat out with Nanny NATHANS!!!

It cant be the "worst" thing, but its not the best either. I dont see a problem once in a while.

I see nothing wrong with an occassional hot dog...my kids are all extremely healthy (knock on wood) and they've had a hot dog now and then.

I'm sorry but

I've been eating hot dogs for about 25 of my 27 years on this planet as does most of my family and no one has ever had cancer.

I think that somethings this stuff is really bullcocky.

yes now and then....but anyhting that containes Nirates should be given in moderation....

I think glass, nails, bleach and poison are the worst things you can give your child to eat. A hot dog everyonce in a while won't matter too much.
