Is a jogging stroller like a treadmill that will become a clothes hanger?
I'm debating on spending my very valuable BBB credit on a jogging stroller. I just got the Peg Perego Pliko Switch which is will be our primary stroller and I plan on getting a Maclaren for the lightweight umbrella when she's a bit older, but I'm torn on whether to splurge on a third...the BOB jogger. I always have good intentions with these sort of things, but $300 is ALOT to spend on something that will collect dust in my garage.
WDYT?? Did you get one? Do you use it?

I'd say if you were a committed jogger/walker pre-preg get it, if not, I don't think its something easy to pick up with a newborn exhausting you

no way...the joggers are the best strollers out there IMO. They are the best overall for anything...jogging, sidewalks/streets, all terrain, the mall, etc.

Would you do a lightweight jogger like the City Mini instead of an umbrella stroller? Best of both worlds? Or, is the umbrella indispensable?

I am getting the City Mini. You cannot actually jog with it, but it is lightweight and handles beautifully. It actually can be used as an umbrella stroller.
I love the City Mini and can't say enough good about it. I am going to be using it for walking. I don't jog, so the fact I can't jog with this stroller doesn't matter to me.

the city mini is a bit bigger but still lightweight in comparison to the maclaren. to be honest, i like my quest, but i'm not crazy about it. it won't hold my diaper bag and a snack tray is so helpful. some people adore them. as for the jogger, it is the larger, air filled wheels and shocks (if they have them) as well as the overall excellent construction and great sunshades on them that rock! they steer like a dream! i haven't pushed a city mini, so i can't compare. friends who have it love it.

There are lots of great "real" joggers that are less expensive than the BOB. We got a Jeep and Schwinn is also an excellent brand - both under $200.

I had the peg perego as my primary stroller, which I registered for. I am not a jogger. When I bought the BOB I did have intentions of working out/walking with it. But really, you cannot beat the handling on it. I cannot compare it to the city mini but it definitely handles better than my peg (I'm not sure about the one you have). If I could do it again, I wouldn't bother with my peg, I would use the snap and go while DC was in the infant carrier then switch to the BOB. I would like to get a lightweight like the mclaren, but since I will need a double shortly, that is out of the question.

ours did, but we thought it might when we got one, so instead of brand new, we got one on craigs list so if we didnt use it, and we didnt, we hadnt spent a fortune on it.

I know, they do handle AMAZINGLY well, but the real joggers are huge. I can't imagine walking around the mall during the holidays with the BOB. The seats are also really low, so if you push one up to a table in a restaurant, DC is much lower than I'd like and they take up so much room.
My friend had the City Mini and we walked around the city with it. It was REALLY nice. I just felt that the Peg was so much plusher for an infant and that the City Mini would be better for a larger child who doesn't require as much padding and would want a little more freedom in the seat.

I agree, I absolutely love the city mini and it can definitely be used as an umbrella stroller, it is soo light weight and moves great. That is gonna be my number 1 stroller, I have used to Maclaren too and personally don't think they compare at all.

I don't jog but I try to walk. I got the City Classic (on sale for $220!) for my primary stroller and I love it! It's pretty lightweight and super easy to fold up. It handles REALLY well.
ETA: I'm also using the snap and go for the carseat right now for trips to the store.
