is a subway sandwich ok to eat?

I am about 7 wks... my Dr never told me no cold cuts... and I know that some Dr's say that they are okay if it is a place with high turnover and the meat dosnt sit around.... do you ladies think that a turkey sandwich from subway would be okay? I am craving one SOO bad

Re: is a subway sandwich ok to eat?

Every time I've had Subway it was just a veggie sandwich basically. I ordered everything I'd get on a normal sub, only no meat. I actually did like it. I wouldn't chance the meat, I've heard it can sit around. Actually I don't think I'll ever eat meat from there again, then again I do have a bit of a meat aversion as is.

Subway actually states that they do not recommend that pregnant women eat their cold cuts.

You can only eat cold cuts if they are heated up to kill the Listeria.

Ok... that's just scary... That's just seems to me like it's a disclaimer - We know our food is bacteria ridden... BEWARE!

I was just thinking... do you think Quiznos would be okay, since they put the meat through the toaster?? Is that heating it up enough??? Chat Icon

Re: is a subway sandwich ok to eat?

I would stay away from Subway and go with Quiznos. They put their meats through the toaster which should kill the bacteria.

Im pretty sure Subway will toast a sandwich if you want them to or you could get chicken.

That is interesting to me since there was a recall on those cold cuts about 2 years agoChat Icon

I don't like cold cuts from Subway not preggo, so I wouldn't eat it anyway. But I ate A LOT of salami and provolone when I was pregnant from delis.

Everything in moderation!!

I ate subway my whole preganancy and my baby boy is as healthy as can be. Just eat the chicken if you are afraid of the cold cuts.

I've wondered about this too. Does the meat get heated up enough when it goes through the toaster?
