no we only bought DS 3 things, that's it. he is 15 months and has so many toys already, it's crazy. He will get things from our families too so we didn't go all out. once he starts asking for things, it will be another story

No, we only got one thing that will be their combined hanukkah/christmas/birthday gift. They don't understand what presents are, plus their grandparents will get them enough stuff to last for the next 5 years,

I did, but I totally didn't mean to buy so much. DD is only 7 months and I bought her 7 or 8 toys. I kept buying her things online when I needed to add things to my order to get certain discounts or free shipping. I didn't realize how much I bought until the packages started coming.

I don't know what I'm going to do with these toys because she definitely doesn't need them. She has been having a ball playing with wrapping paper that I doubt she is going to even care about the toy.

I go overboard every year and I love it. It's Christmas. My kids both have birthdays in the fall so the rest of the year they don't really get toys so I get a lot at Christmas. We keep their birthdays pretty small though.

I completely went overboard. We are currently on 8 presents and DS is getting presents from both grandparents, and 6 uncles/aunts, at least!!!

We're going to have no room in the house for all the presents he gets!

I tried really hard not to. BUt DS's b-day is in Jan so I told myself I'd split gifts between the 2 events. I couldn't pass up some of the good deals that were posted! I don't think I did too bad though. I have about 8 things for Christmas and B-day. But I know family has bought alot also. I know some things that were bought can't be used until the spring and are outdoor toys. I tried to be a little practical!

I tried not too. I knew that my mother was going to get her a lot of toys. I only got her 3 presents. She's a January baby too, but instead of toys I'm getting her a personalized snowglobe for her 1st birthday, plus she's having a party.

Oh yes, completely overboard. And I didn't even really realize how bad it was until last night. I went into my stash to put aside 8 gifts for Chanukah and save the rest for Christmas. I put aside of the the gifts and still have a TON left over. Plus DS has 3 aunts and uncles, 7 sets of great aunts and uncles, 2 sets of grandparents and a coupe of cousins who buy for him too. No, as a matter of fact I haven't bought anything yet, and Hanukah starts tonight. He's only 10 months and doesn't know the difference. With one income and house hunting we're being super frugal this year. Though I don't know that i'd have gone overboard even if we weren't. He has no idea so for us the money is better spent when he actually needs stuff...he gets toys from grandmothers almost once a week so he's fine.

Don't give them all to her now. Wrap them and put them away for opening during the year. This great on a random rainy day in March when you guys are bored and looking for something to do!

Re: Is anyone else going overboard on Christmas gifts for you DC?

If you asked my DH he would say yes but I don't think so. They don't have anyone else to buy for them. My parents come from NY to us so I buy eveything including their presents for the kids too and they just write me a check. We don't have any other family who buys them stuff- we just aren't like that.

yes due to all of the lovely helpful ladies on LIF with their discount codes! I have a bunch of upcoming birthdays too so that's how I justify it.Chat Icon
