Is anyone else hearing thunder?? Is it supposed to rain?
I have been hearing what I believe to be thunder for over an hour now and it's gray but not dark?

We had thunder and rain about 30-45 mins ago in Hauppauge. But it cleared out. Still a little gray.

it is insane here, huge rain drops that are teaming down, crazy lighting, I am in woodbury.

If you look at the map, the worst of it sems to be stalled just to the west of us. I've already warned everyone to save their work in case the power goes out!

i'm in bay shore and i've been hearing the thunder for awhiel---the sky to the north is getting gray while the sky to the south is still pretty clear...but you can tell its moving north to south.

* UNTIL 300 PM EDT...
* AT 206 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR SYOSSET...AND MOVING EAST AT 3 MPH.
* THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR... SYOSSET BY 215 PM... PLAINVIEW BY 245 PM... WOODBURY BY 255 PM... MELVILLE...HUNTINGTON STATION AND 7 MILES WEST OF DIX HILLS BY 300 PM...

a water spout was spotted in Lloyd Harbor already and it could turn into a tornado.

It's over now, but I'm in Jericho and before we had sunny skys but rain coming down in what looked like a sheet of water. We had thunder too.
