Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
If I don't go into labor on my own, I'll be induced by Thursday at the latest. I'm starting to get used to the idea, but I definitely have a fear of the unknown. I'm in denial that I'll be in labor soon. I'm sure part of the reason I'm in denial is b/c I had envisioned delivering towards the end of December. It also makes me nervous just thinking about labor.
Is anyone else in denial about labor?

I'm getting to the point where I'm getting so freaked out about not knowing when and how that I want to ask for c-section, which I never would do but I'm sooooooo frightened I just want it to happen already so I can get over my fear!!!!

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
Yes, its weird to think that it could really happen at any time. I have been told I'll be scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks if I don't go into labor on my own. Its highly unlikely I will make it to 39 weeks, when most twins are born before 36 weeks, which is only 2 weeks from now! My fear is I will go into labor during the day while DH is at work and he won't make it home in time for my c-section.

Even though I'll probably be induced, I'm terrified about it. Inductions can take several days. I'm also scared that it won't work and I'll have to have a c-section. Although it's scary not knowing, I think I'd rather go into labor on my own. Pushing, tearing and episiotomies also scare the crap out of me. It's all becoming so real now.

I also hate the idea of not having control. I'm definitely a Type A personality. I cried at least 2 times in the doctor's office when she told me I was being taken out of work 1 month early. My blood pressure also shot up to 160/90 when she mentioned that and it was one of the reasons I ended up in L&D for several hours.

This is exactly how I feel. I am due the 10th and my doctor has been telling me for 2 weeks now "any day"! I am too much of a control freak not to know when this is going to happen. It is making me nuts! I go to the dr. on Tues. if I havent gone into labor before then and we will schedule an induction!

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
It doesn't seem real to me either. It's like time has slowed down and I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever. Even on the tour of the hospital the other night, it still didn't seem like it was going to be ME in there at some point in the next several weeks. I can't believe that my life is about to completely change. And I have no control over it.

He works in the city, so it could be a good 2-3 hrs from when I call him till he gets to the hospital. Hopefully they will let me labor for awhile. I'll have to try to catch the signs early!

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
With my son I was in complete denial even when I was in labor.
I went to the doc's office and they sent me next door to the hospital to get checked and I fought with everyone....the nurses, my doctor, admitting.
I kept telling everyone I was going home and why were they making me get admitted, why did I have to get undressed and put the gown on and get hooked up to the fetal monitors.
I knew I was in labor but I wasn't ready LOL. 4 hours later Jack was out.......I'm still in denial that I have 2 kids

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
Denial? I think it started when they showed me what a 10cm circle looked like. I turned to DH & said "No. I'm sorry. I can't do this."
I showed up at the hospital telling them I was having psychosomatic contractions but my water broke. I told them I wasn't in labor because I had 6 more weeks to go. I was wrong.

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
I still have about 10 weeks left and I am in serious denial I think. I am also an absolute control freak and I can't even imagine what this whole experience is going to be like! Then I realize that this whole parenting thing is going to be pretty unpredictable also!
But, I am really excited at the same time!

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
I am so excited about it! I am now on maternity leave from work and my due date is in 19 days. I am so excited to relax before the baby comes. The only thing that bugs me out is not knowing when she's going to arrive. I was 50% effaced at my first internal and the doctor felt her head, so she's in position! I just cannot wait to meet her!!!

this is exactly how I feel..... I am due on Monday & this little boy is showing no signs of coming out anytime soon..... I have been 1 cm for the past 2 weeks.....
Although I can not wait for him to come out, I am in complete denial about the whole labor process. I just dont think about the actual labor process..... I am focusing on the end result, holding my baby boy.

Re: Is anyone else in denial about going into labor soon?
I'm definitely in denial that all of this is happening, and happening SOON. I feel like I just peed on the stick!!!
I will shamelessly admit that I'm a little bit relieved to be having a c-section. The idea of going into labor scares me.
