IS anyone else not happy w/their crockpot?

I was so excited to break out my new slow cooker...prepared my stew this morning and then left my house.
WHen i came home the smell of my house reminded me of an old ladys house...and the meat was really tender but it tasted weird.
Maybe its bc the pot is new
(i cleaned it really well before i used it)
i cant explain it- sort of plasticy-just bleh!

Mind you i think ive perfected my original stew-the one i make stovetop, and i used the same ingredients and also used one from this board( i sort of combined the 2)
I am so turned off i dont think i will use it again.

omg that is EXACTLY what happened to me the 1 and only time I used it! I made a roast and the smell was so bad that I ended up tossing it & the crock pot! I couldn't get that smell out. I followed the recipe to a "T", I don't get it Chat Icon

I know so many ppl rave about theirs, but I am extremely skeptical to try it again Chat Icon

I just bought the All Clad slow cooker from Williams Sonoma and it is GREAT! It's a 7 quart crockpot and it was $99 but well worth it.

I had a Rivel one that was a 5 quart and I HATED IT! Same deal that you are describing. This is the one purchase where I feel you get what you pay for.

no wonder why my MIL gave it to me after she used it 1x.
It was so out of character for her to give me something for "no reason" HA!

o man I love my crock pot!!!!!!!!!!!!

try doing ribs! OMG delish!

Throw in country style ribs and a bottle of rib sauce cook on low 6-8hours

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good

I also made a sweet and sour pork (u can use chicken too)

I love mine

*Pot Roast or stew would of turned me off to the crockpot if that was the 1st thing i made in it

give it another shot!

What kind of slow cooker was it?

I have a rival -- nothing fancy -- and I've never had a problem with it.

Dont give up, yet. I have made some things that turned out not so good but have had some things that turn out awesome. Our favorite is Crockpot Lasagna. We love it. Chat Icon

Re: IS anyone else not happy w/their crockpot?

I know I went out and got one because some of the recipes sounded so yummy. I made pot roast and it took 7 hours and it wasn't even that good. The meat was tender, but it had a funny taste to it also.
