Is anyone else's DH anti-classes?
Anytime I bring up some kind of class to Dh (So far, birthing and newborn care), he rolls his eyes and says that's what doctor's are there for and we will figure it out. He seriously believes that all these classes are only to get your money and are ridiculous.
I don't mind not going to the birthing class because I feel that I can watch videos and read books- etc.
I would like to go to a breastfeeding class, possibly...but DH says there are books and videos for that too (And VWebb- thanks to YOUR DH, he now thinks he knows how to make a baby breastfeed, and was reciting it the other day )
Anyway...just venting about an annoying (but still pretty awesome) husband for a moment.

MINE!!!! Well when push comes to shove... my DH will go... he wont be happy about it, but he will go! He wouldn't make me do it by myself.. it will eat him up! They are just being jerks!!! I am totally confused on thsi breastfeeding issue too!!! So I def have to go to a class for that..... but maybe DH's dont need to go to it???
What does everyone think? Does DH need to go... or can you go with a friend??

MINE! He keeps asking is I can bring my SIL with me! I told him, he needs to be there or else they won't let him in the delivery room. I know that when it comes down to it, he will go kicking & screaming but at the same time, I want him to not say a word

Re: Is anyone else's DH anti-classes?
Actually my DH was, I forced them and now i can say there were better places to put the money. The BF class was the funniest in retrospect. I don't know about other people, but the doll latched on perfect every time in class... unfortunately the real thing wanted nothing to do with BFing... ETA: they left that part out during the class and they made it seem way too simple as if babies just want to do this unless something is horribly wrong with the baby. So not true but it was enough to make me feel horrible when she didn't latch on.

Re: Is anyone else's DH anti-classes?
i think it really depends where you take them to. My childbirth/child care class was great. It really focused on DHs and being able to do simple child care things--change diaper, hold baby etc. We are taking the newborn/child CPR class--which I have been told if you take no other class this is the class you should absolutely take. I also just called to take the breastfeeding class because I feel llike I am clueless.
My DH went with me to the childbirth class and will go with me to the CPR class.

Mine!
I mentioned it the other day and he said "i'm not taking any classes."
I said "trust me, you are. You are completely clueless when it comes to infants."
I think if you keep bringing it up, it just annoys them more.
I'm just going to book the class and let him know the time.

I had to take an infant CPR class when I worked in daycare. DH is CPR certified as well, so I don't have to worry about that..

Re: Is anyone else's DH anti-classes?
DH and I attended a child care class while pg with first I'll be honest, I was very nervous since he really had no experience being around newborns and thankfully he was open to the class.
But to be honest - we both wish we had saved the money because we learned the exact same things with the DVD's we have. For us, there was nothing we learned on hand that we didn't practice with the DVD.
