Is anyone finding it harder or painful to lay...
in your bed in a flat position or with pillows propped up behind you? We bought a new mattress about a month 1/2 ago and at first it felt EXTREMELY comfortable. Now...I have to say..it isn't. I don't know if it's due to the pregnancy and the fact that I am going into my 28th week...but I can't lay in bed comfortable, with 4 pillows and my body pillow. Last night I got a SHARP pain in my lower ab area that I have been getting quite often. I've noticed I get it when I laugh or move the wrong way...but now I'm wondering am I going to have to sleep on the couch?????
Any suggestions...

You really should not lay on your back, especially if it is hurting you.....

I'm at 33 wks & only find it comfortable on my side w/ the body pillow in front of me & in between my legs & a pillow behind me supporting my back

Same here... at 30 weeks. I wrap the body pillow around me entirely so my stomach and back have support.. DH calls it my fortress because he cannot get near me.......Also, I have to switch sides after each bathroom trip because my sides and ribs get sore......

Just do whatever makes YOU comfortable. I still sleep on my stomach sometimes and I lay on my back and watch TV all the time. As long as you are comfortable you're not hurting anything, but if a certain position does hurt you then obviously switch it up.

What's the best sleep position during pregnancy? Last updated: November 2003 By Mary O'Malley, sleep consultant
Question: What's the best sleep position during pregnancy?
Answer: Although there's no real harm in sleeping on your right side, lying on your left side is actually good for you and your baby: It improves the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and it helps your kidneys efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body. That, in turn, reduces swelling in your ankles, feet, and hands. If you train yourself to sleep on your left side early on, you'll have an easier time falling asleep when your belly is bulging later.
During the second half of pregnancy, avoid sleeping on your back, a position that puts the full weight of your uterus on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and the inferior vena cava (the vein that transports blood from your lower body to the heart). Back-sleeping can also put you at risk for backaches and hemorrhoids, inefficient digestion, and impaired breathing and circulation. Lying on your back in the second and third trimester can also cause changes in blood pressure. For some women, it can cause a drop in blood pressure that can make them feel dizzy; for others, it can cause an unwanted increase in blood pressure.

I watch TV on my back mostly as well. Laying on my side isn't always as comfortable as I would like it..but I never thought about putting a pillow behind my back. That may actually help..somewhat.
At this point..I feel like I should just sleep standing up!!

Re: Is anyone finding it harder or painful to lay...
i find the more pillows i use, the more pressure i put on my lower back. I have been using one pillow for my head and i switch sides during the night, i do catch myself sleeping on my back and when it happens i just roll to my side. If im sleeping, there isnt much i can do.
