Is anyone here diabetic?
If so, what do you eat & drink?
Thank you.

Re: Is anyone here diabetic?
I am newly diabetic...
I can't really telll ya what to eat or drink, as I am still trying to learn myself
I have learned to drink diet sodas, crystal light, water, seltzer, anything with no sugar...coke zero, sprite zero, sierra mist free...diet arizona iced tea..
almonds, peanuts, peanut butter, low carb stuff..I ahve been checking out atkins website for some recipes...
Be careful of pasta, some tomato sauces, sweet corn, breads made w/ white flour....light wheat bread seems to be ok for me...however, NY Bagels are NOT GOOD..not sure what the deal is with them, but everybody I have talked to, are in agreement that these bagels are so full of carbs...which SUCKS as those are my breakfast of choice!!!!
Also, cheeses are pretty good too...

Re: Is anyone here diabetic?
Going on 21 years now.... Holly and I have been FMing recently about her recent diagnosis.
A good place to start looking is http://www.glycemicindex.com/ The Glycemix index tells you what foods have fast-acting vs. slow-acting sugars, and is a good guideline to start from.
This is another forum, similar to LIF, but totally focused on diabetes. Great place to ask questions, get answers, support, etc: http://www.diabetesforums.com

Re: Is anyone here diabetic?
Me
I would suggest seeing a dietitian that specializes in diabetes. It can be confusing in the beginning and a lot of it is trial and error. You can figure out what you can eat by checking your sugars. I am also on medication so that helps a lot too.
