is anyone here? I need some fast advice...updated - spoke to the dr - thank you!!!
Fast background - my 3yo has strep. Barely or drank at all yesterday.
This morning she woke at 5am vomiting...barely anything came up since she didnt really eat or drink.
She had a few sips of water.
She fell back asleep and woke up again at 7 vomiting those few sips of water that she had earlier.
She had a few more sips of water and is sleeping again.
I spoke to the dr at 5 who didnt seem too concernced because she had a wet diaper when she woke up...
BUT this sleepiness that is going on is not normal for her. I am sitting next to her on the computer and the tv is on and she still fell asleep - this is EXTREMELY unusual for her.
the drs office opens at 8:30 - I should just wait and call them right - (Vs. going to the ER or just showing up at the drs door at 8:30)
I know I might be overreacting - but like I said the sleepiness is really concerning me.
Thoughts?!??!

Does she have a fever? You know your daughter better than anyone, and if you think her behavior is beyond unusual, I would go with your gut. Fevers def. make them act different.

yes, she has about 101...the dr said not to give her anything for it right now since it doesn't seem to be bothering her.
I hate this [email protected] is the hardest part of being a parent for sure!!!

I would definetly call and tell them about her unusual behavior. Why did the tell you not to give anything for her fever?

I've had strep and its tough on the body. Her body if fighting something pretty bad and the fever doesnt help so she probably is sleepy due to all the energy her body is exerting fighting this thing. But as us mommies know our kids better than anyone--call at8:30 let them know your concerns and go from there.
I hope she gets better quickly..I am still surprised they didnt tell you to give her something for the fever.

Because it doesnt seem to be bothering her - it is not super high and the meds might upset her stomach.

If she is lethartigic, vomitting and sleeping so much with a low fever (which I give something for always even thougth it isn't recommened). I would show up at the door step or go to First Med by you.
The only thing I can think of is that if she has Strep and they gave her antibiotic then maybe it is to harsh on her stomach and that could be why she is vomiting. And if she is naesous then she probably isn't gonna wanna eat so it just a cycle..kWIM.
I hope she feels better

If you're concerned take her in but probably between the fever and vomiting she's just exhausted, especially if she has a stomach virus going along with strep. Sleep is part of how the body heals.
Is she on anything for the strep? Could that be upsetting her stomach?

Strep can make them really tired and on top of that I bet the antibiotic is making her vomit, or she has a stomach virus on top of the strep
I wouldn't worry about the sleeping she has a fever and strep so sleep is one of the best things for her. I would definitely at least call the ped and see if they want to see her or change her antibiotic.
I hope she is feeling better real soon

Thanks ladies - I have NEVER seen her sleepy like this. It scared me a little.Its heartbreaking.
The dr. isnt too concerned but said not to give her meds until she stops vomiting. He actually said that vomiting is very common with strep (I had no idea!)
She is finally keeping down some water which is a relief.

Glad to hear she is doing better
My kids get really high fevers so they sleep a lot when they are sick. It is very disconcerting the first couple of times you see it though
