Is anyone here on the NutriSystem plan?

DH and I started about 4 weeks ago and so far we are both doing really well... I lost 13.5 pounds and he has lost nearly 20 Chat Icon

What always makes me crazy is that I am actually eating the same if not LESS than him, I probably work out more and yet he has still lost SO MUCH MORE Chat Icon )

I just see all the Weight Watcher peeps here, I was curious if anyone was currently on this plan aside from me

Re: Is anyone here on the NutriSystem plan?

Felicia, I am on WW, but just wanted to say....the guys ALWAYS lose faster. I have been going to the same WW meetings for a while now, so I sit with the same few people. One of the women and I often joke about when they give out the 10% award to the guys. We say, "so how long has he been here? 3 weeks?" Seriously, it will take the women months to lose 10% of their weight and the guys can drop it in what seems like a month. It is frustrating, but as long as you are losing, keep up whatever you are doing. Chat Icon

Re: Is anyone here on the NutriSystem plan?

Ahh Donna thanks for the sympathy Chat Icon Seriously, I knew going into this that he would lose at a more rapid pace than I would.. plus he has a bit more to lose... BUT STILL, when he got on the scale and said "down 4.5 more pounds" and I got on and saw only down 1.5, (even though HE HAD CHEATED) I was whining NO FAIR Chat Icon

OH well, as you said as long as I'm going down and not up, I will have to be happy about that Chat Icon

I think guys loose faster, b/c they usually have mroe muscle toen & muscle buirns more calories that fat.

Years ago, when NutriSystem first came out, my aunt lost a lot of weight on it. I'v ebeen hearing mroe about it lately--I think they have re-vamped it a little.

How does it work? Do you just eat all their food? Is it expensive?

NutriSystem is revamped since back then, they do more of a low-glycemic plan with lots of soy and protein in their meals..

Basically its so simple : you buy all the food from them (enough for 5 weeks to start) and they ship it to you.. you eat the three meals a day but also add your own salad/fruits/veggies and some dairy to the plan to make it more well-rounded..

It a good plan for me and Anthony because neither of us like to cook, and this is so easy to make when you get home late after work (like we both do)

The costs is about $260/month (that is per/person) but when we really added it up, we are actually saving money because we were eating out a LOT.. and even shoping for meats and such is soo expensive.

And I actually think the food is REALLY good, very filling and tasty .. but unfortunately I have a sneaky suspicion that its giving me a reaction because I have not been feeling 100% on it (I think the huge increase in additives/soy is triggering my migraines) so I'm going to go off for a week and see if indeed its the nutrisystem food or something else ..

BUT that is just me, does not mean I do not recommend it! In sum I am doing well on it , losing weight and its a great plan overall... (though I realize its not for everyone Chat Icon)

Thanks! I am hestitant to go on any diet withprepared food--it woudl probaably be the easiest way to start, but DH would still need regular food & he proabably wouldn't cook jsut for him , then he'd just eat pizza all the time! Chat Icon
Also, are you supposed to stay on it forever? If you go back to regular food, won't you either gain it all back, or have to follow some other prgram to make sure your calorie intake doesn't increase?

It could be the additives that are making you sick. Some people are very senstitive to them.
Hope you feel better! Chat Icon

I have always suffered from migraines, but they were pretty much "at bay" for quite awhile now.. so when they came back these past few weeks, I was thinking maybe the NutriSystem food was triggering it

BUT in fact you could be right, usually the change of weather makes my headaches bad too... and actually I still ate the food yesterday and today I woke up and headaches /dizziness were much better.. so ya never know

Thank you for your reply Chat Icon

I wish I would have seen this sooner!! I just received my 5 weeks of food today!

Felicia - did you decide if the food was triggering your migraines? I hope not or I may be in trouble!

The one thing I ate tonight tasted okay (chicken pasta primavera?) but I tasted the fudge graham bar (which is supposed to be for lunch) because I cut open the wrapper by mistake when I cut the box open ... anyway, I thought it was gross and threw it out (and unfortunately I ordered five of them! Chat Icon ).

Hey Wendy!!

How are you doing on the plan so far.. did you find anything else you hate (I have a list of things I'll never touch again, food wise.. unfortunately its hit or miss when you first start... when I read the NutriSystem site/chat boards, people would SWEAR some things were delicious and I tried them and gagged Chat Icon)

I do happen to love the Fugde Graham bars tho.. so go figure Chat Icon

As for my migraines... I dont think it was the food causing them, since I have been much better not having any headaches at all lately. I actually went off the food for a week and saw no difference, so I know it wasn't the food .. must have been the change of weather in my case .. I will say that the food has a LOT of "SOY" in it.. so some people have sensitivites to that and cannot eat it after awhile.. but so far, I'm doing OK and sticking with it

GOOD LUCK to you! Its not easy at first but you do get used to it after awhile. FM if you have any questions (I'm on the plan now for 8 weeks today and so far, so good Chat Icon)

Thanks for asking Donna Chat Icon

I am doing really really well on NutriSystem. I have been on the plan 8 weeks yesterday, and to date have lost 20 pounds Chat Icon Chat Icon

But I will say that outside of 1 day where I cheated, I have been 100% "on plan" so that has helped. I am super strict with myself. But I'm sure the weight loss will really sloooooooow down now. In the begining the pounds just drop off

I still am working at losing another 20-25 pounds until I reach my real goal... !! (ugh to think of all the weight I packed on since my wedding, Chat Icon some 30+ pounds) I am shooting for 10 pounds less than I was on my wedding, just hope I can continue to do it!

DH is also still going strong on N/S with me. To date he's lost 28 pounds (and in his case that's with a LOT of cheating Chat Icon Men just lose sooooo much easier!)

With the holidays coming, the REAL test is "on" Chat Icon

Good for you!!! Although, the holidays might actually be easier, since you have your pre-ordered stuff. You can have little something here and there, but since you already have the food and DH is doing it with you, it may not be too bad. This time last year was when I started having trouble (right after my wedding) so I am trying really hard to keep all the treats out of our house - and just have them away from home occasionally. Good luck!

I'm so sorry I did not see this sooner!

If you have any questions about the plan, please do not hesitate to ask me!

(i agree with your friend, the eggs are gross Chat Icon) And I'm not really a beef eater SO I avoid all the beef dinners at all costs (my husband is doing the plan wiht me and he enjoys just about everything, so its all relative Chat Icon)

I've been on it for about 9.5 weeks now and I've lost 23.5 pounds! So yes it DOES work, and once you get used to the portion sizes and the food, it I think you'll love it too

GOOD LUCKChat Icon

I want to start NOW.

My DH is not doing it and is a bad influence he is still at that age ( 29) where he can lose wieght by missing a meal and eats a ton of junk food, me (35) not so lucky!
