Is anyone in Real Estate or know someone?

Is anyone in Real Estate or know someone in Real Estate that can give me advice? DH says we won’t be ready to start looking for a house for a year and a half. He swears that the market will continue to go down and won’t be going up anytime soon. I’ve had multiple people tell me that they will start to rise within the next year. I don’t want to get screwed! Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I don't think anyone can tell you what the market is going to do, it is in all reality, the market.

If you read online, the market may still go down, but I think I read that by 2009, it is expected to start going up again.

You will never be able to time it at the exact right moment, just like the stock market. You'll only know the low point after it has started to go back up.

Like another PP said, you will never know. Like you will see on the Home board, even now there are houses on the market right now that are either priced on the money of what they are worth or there are some that are priced too high, still.

I think that regardless of the market, if you are looking to buy, it's worth looking regardless of what the market is like. You never know when a good deal will fall on your lap.
