is anyone not getting a diaper genie?

we just set up some of our furniture and its not going to fit next to our changing table..there just isnt enough room because its between the wall and closet and thats really the only place it will fit.

Do i really need to have one?

You really dont need one, I just put all dirty diapers in my kitchen garbage pail so I can take it out every night, they all start to smell after a while when they sit in the room.

It's such a personal decision. I did not get one and I was fine. I would tie them up in plastic bags that I got from the store and would throw them out the next day. You get used to the routine of throwing them out and you don't have anything to clean and spray. Personally, I think they stink when you open them to throw another diaper in there.

I had one with my eldest daughter..I think they had first come out then..(13 year ago+)..I never really used it..since then I just use the kitchen garbage or even go outside for the poopy ones..

I used the diaper dekor for Roman. We stopped using it at about a year. Now I just wrap them in bags and toss outside in the garbage. I don't think I'll be using it for baby #2 although the diapers will be more frequent so who knows.

I don't think so. I just don't like the idea of leaving the dirty diapers in the baby's room, even if they are contained the device. I'd rather just throw them out in the kitchen or outside.

I am also not getting one. I just like to dispose of the diapers as needed. Personally, I think those diaper pails really stink!

honestly, I didn't plan on it, but got a hand-me-down from someone, so I might give it a try.

big ol' waste.

Put the stinky diapers in a ziploc bag and toss, pee pee diapers are fine in the trash.

wow - DH made it seem like we were the only ones not to have one! I'll have to show him this thread! I feel like you girls. I don't want smelly diapers sitting around - I take them out (I wrap them in the blue BRU bags first)

I registered for & got one, and then returned it. To each their own, but the thought of poop sitting anywhere in the house grossed me out, plus, our house is a ranch, so it's not too far from the nursery to the kitchen garbage, which we'll take out every day (diapers will be wrapped in the little garbage bags everyone else talks about).

If I had a larger house, it may have been a different story.

I never had one, didn't need one at all and don't plan on getting one for #2.

I never liked the concept of having poo/pee diaper sausages in my house for an extended period of time. That goes for any kind of diaper pail too.

All diapers since day 1 have gone in the kitchen trash and that garbage goes out at least once a day.

I'm not getting one...I'll use a regular pail. They sell little baggies you can wrap a dirty diaper in if they are stinky. But I figured I'll just dump the really stinky ones directly in the garbage outside....I don't want them sitting around in the pail anyway.

I have no intentions of getting one. I rather just take the diapers out to the garbage.

A lot of my cousins who've recently given birth said not to register for one. It's just a waste, things you don't really need.

You don't NEED one, but it is def. nice to have. But I would say the Diaper Champ is way better than the Diaper Genie, and alot easier to use.

We're not getting it...I'd rather just wrap it up and throw it out right away.

I think if you are pressed for space, don't even worry about it. Just bring the really stinky diapers out to the pail immediately and the rest can go in the kitchen garbage, or just bring those out also!

I have the Diaper Champ and it is really great. Mind you BF diapers aren't nearly as stinky as formula diapers so that is a plus. But I think I have like 4 days of diapers in there right now and not only does it not smell at all, I am not using plastic bags for every diaper I throw out so it is "better" for the environment.

I love my diaper genie - it's super-convenient and contains the odor. I don't like the idea of dirty diapers sitting in my kitchen trash for even the day. I empty the diaper genies every day or 2 (I'm working w/ 2 babies so we fill them pretty quickly )
