Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
I feel like all I keep reading about is how gassy the formula is making the babies. We used Similac Advance with no problems with Jack!
I am asking because I have TONS of free formula that I get (all of it Similac Early Shield) and was hoping that someone had success with it.
I also remember Jack being gassy - but I always thought that was normal since his system was getting used to it and never really thought to switch.

We used the Early Advance Shield and never had a problem with gas. In fact, now that I am transitioning him to whole milk, he is more gassy than he has ever been.
This formula was perfect for us!

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
I use it since DS was born. YEah, its gassy but I sometimes get the reg advance and that's gassy too. I gave DS mylicon (per the ped) for the first 3 months. Super Gassy. But she said the gain from the formula out weighed the gas. I mean, she could have been blowing smoke up my hiney. But we kept on with it. He is good now, we just use gas drops when he eats some gassy stuff.
I also used it because I was getting free cans of it from EVERYWHERE.

We use it....she's a bit gassy but I don't know what "normal" is....she has gotten better but everyone passes gas

Sean has been on it from day 1 - He had some bad gas here and there, nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing a little Mylicon didn't help him with ......

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
I'm going to be honest and say that I think people (new parents and peds) switch formulas REALLY fast now.
Christopher was on Similac Advance until 8 weeks, at that point, I decided he should not be in so much pain and gassy and our ped said switch to Gentlease and he was great after that.
I guess my point is that all babies are gassy at the beginning, maybe they will grow out of it, maybe not, but there is a lot of switching going on!

we used it and havent had any problems. I wouldnt think that shes gassier than other babies, but i dont really have anything to compare it to (and she doesnt seem to fuss from it or anything). We've been really happy with it!

That's what I thought. I remember when our kiddies were first born some people had issues, but I feel like the new moms on here are constantly switching. I didn't know if it was because it was a new formula for Similac and still working out the kinks? I hope this baby takes to it, otherwise I'll be in big trouble!

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
we used it for about 3 weeks - and the problem wasn't the 'gas' - but the AMOUNT of spit up. It was much more than your average amount!
we switched to soy about a month or a month and a half in and it's been much better!

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
DS was on it from the beg and had some gas. I switched to gentlease and he would spit up so much. Ped told me to put him back on similac, and I give him mylicon to help him out with the gas.

ITA DD was having gas issues in her first weeks (when BFing) but the ped assured me that this was very very common for newborns and would happen with any formula or breastmilk. When DD didn't gain weight the ped said to pick a formula and try it. Because I had so many free samples of the Similac Advance Early Shield I tried that and it has been fine. I was giving DD Mylicon drops in the beginning because I thought it couldn't hurt but it actually ended up "slowing her down" so I stopped.
I did just recently switch from the Playtex drop-in's to Born Free bottles and that has cut down on her gas...but she was never overly gassy to begin with.
Just give it a good try and see how it goes!

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
Ds#2 was a gassy mess on this stuff (and DS #1 like Jack was great with Similac Advance)
Early on I made the switch to Similac Sensitive

We use it and haven't had any problems. DD has had powder and RTF and been fine with both. We only supplement but I'm sure she would be fine on it full time too.

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
Yes and Love it. DS was gassy in the beginning, but all babies are gassy. I was thinking about switching formula's, but the Ped said to wait on it. If DS isn't projectile spitting up or in a lot of pain then stick with it. A lot of pple switch to early and then the baby has digestive issues later on. The first 2 to 3 months DS was gassy so we used Milycon and now he's 4 months still using it and no problems at all. I don't use the Milycon drops anymore either.

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
We are using it and our ds is a month old. The problem we are having is that he screams and cries when he has to poop. He cries and pushes but nothing comes out. Has this happened to anyone else. We called the ped and are currently looking into what to do

Re: Is anyone's baby on Similac Early Advance Shield
I've been using this to supplement my breastmilk and haven't noticed any problems (how do you tell if a baby is gassy? I burp him and he gets out pretty good ones so I've been thinking he's ok.) He doesn't (knock on wood) spit up all that much either.
I honestly only started using it b/c it was what we had a lot of samples of.
