Is black pepper bad for your heart?
I was over my MIL's house and she had the food network on and the cook put in fresh cracked pepper.
And my MIL said oh black pepper bad for your heart. I said black pepper is bad for your heart? I never heard of that? So I also said, I cook with pepper. She just looked at me.
I rather have pepper than all the salt she usues.

I have never heard that at all, actually certain peppers are good for circulation. Lemme do a google & see....
OK anything that I googled with "Black pepper" "heart" "issues" came back as a remedy for the treatment of symptoms of heart disease.

diuretic
laxative
stimulant
tonic
Since it helps to increase circulation, it can be successfully used in any problem where poor circulation plays a part, and for this reason, it is included in a variety of products.

Is pepper bad for you or is it a welcome addition to any meal?
Many people believe pepper, like salt, is bad for you. It's understandable to lump them together because they invariably stand side by side.
However, the truth is that pepper is almost the complete opposite of salt - it's actually very good for you. This is because pepper contains a substance called piperine which, amongst other things, helps our bodies absorb the nutrients derived from the food we eat. So peppering your salad not only adds flavour but it also enables your body to obtain more of its vitamins and minerals
Unfortunately, if you don't like black pepper then you're out of luck because there s very little piperine is white pepper. And in case you were wondering, peppers and chilies don't contain it either.

I never thought of that, she is superstious over other things -- can't think of anything right now.
I thought it was and language barrier, English is her second langauge and Italian is her first.
