Is blood okay in snot? (TMI)
DS has been sick for nearly a week. He saw the pediatrician on Friday where it was confirmed it was just a cold. Now he's got blood in his snot. It's speckled within his mucus. Is this okay? TIA!
He's 5 months old.

I think it is fine - could be from the heat in the house and it gets dry, but I have also heard that blood in your snot means that the cold and stuffiness is breaking up.

No worries....probably just b/c of the dryness in the air.

We just had that and the doctor said it was fine and that aspirators can cause the bleeding as well (I was using one).
he also told me that as long as the baby is comfortable with the congestion and not struggling, that we don't have to do a thing. (saline, aspirator, picking her nose for her (i am guilty of this!)).

Bumping because we have this today.
Can you still put saline drops in? I was wondering because if it's from raw skin or anything, the salt in the water would hurt, right?

I would think if you use Little noses,it would be o.k. I bought a humidifier originally from Sharper Image and found out it sells at Bed, bath and beyond. It is 99% germ free warm mist or hot mist do not remember. My dh said he never ever wakes up with a dry nose oor sore throat ever***and he has had one for years.
It's in the babies room--so now he sleeps on the floor with them when he can.
