is clingy behavior a phase?

josh just turned 14 months and all of a sudden he always wants me to hold him, he cries when i leave the room (even if he's with his dad or grandparents), he cries when i put him down to sleep, etc.

is this just a new phase?

what should i do, hold him or let him cry and fuss?

tia!

thankfully it's a phase (or at least it was for Jack)

I couldn't put him down or leave the room for about 2-3 weeks.

He's over it now and has moved on Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yep. I find it comes in waves, which makes sense. I think as they continue to learn and grow, they need some mommy time...

I agree. It comes and goes. Personally, I LOVE it. I know, weird... I just know that the day will come when they will not want to be near me, so I relish it while I can.

I really hope its a phase. My 10 months old does it also. She will cry when I leave even if Dad is in the room. Its getting worse. Now all she wants to do is hug me - its very cute but I can't do it all day.

I hope it is bc my DD who is almost 11 months has been doing it past few days and I got a horrible neck pain from carrying her constantly. Chat Icon she never did that before.

It's a phase that DS seems to go in and out of. Right now he's back in and it's VERY hard to have patience with him but I keep reminding myself it will pass and he'll be back to his smiling self soon enough. Hang in there! Chat Icon
