Is countertops a DIY project?

Does anyone know if Home Depot will come out and measure for countertop replacement and then order it and do the cutouts and then deliver it?

We were trying to see if we can do that and then install it ourselves but I don't know if we can do it ourselves? We're not handyman inclined. Thanks!

What type of countertop? For the Corian type manmade stone, I think there is a bit of skill getting the seams to not show. Natural stone counters are pretty heavy. Laminate shouldn't be that bad, though.

DH tried to do everything himself he could but, he didn't install the countertops (we just got a nice laminate for from Lowes).

He removed our old countertops instead of paying Lowes to do so though.

We're looking into a nice laminate one as well. I was looking at even saving a few hundred by removing the old one ourselves but I wasn't sure if we could without damaging the cabinets, etc. Do you think we'd be able to at least do that? Thanks!

My DH installed our countertops himself, but we used granite tiles, not a solid surface. I am pretty sure you could do laminate yourselves. Granite or another type of natural material would be difficult, its extremely heavy and can break pretty easily at the weak spots (like the sink cutout)
