DD's smash cake has buttercream frosting with fondant accents. Is this a choking hazzard? Has anyone used fondant in a cake smash before?

see photo below.....

I know Heather from Forever Fireflies recommended using a buttercream or whipped cream, not fondant.

I would imagine fondant wouldn't "smush" that well anyway.

Can you change it?

I cant imagine that it is a choking hazard but I agree that it wont "smash" as well.

It would depend on the child's abilities with eating along with the size of the accents. If they aren't that great with solids and the pieces are the right size I'm sure it could be. Chat Icon

This is the cake... what do you think? I'm thinking of taking off the pieces in the back. Knowing DD, she will likely stay towards the back of the cake and "smash" from there. She is also a very cautious eater and doesn't put many things in her mouth.

I'm sure fondant could easily be a choking hazard but in this situation, she would be closely monitored with it being a photo shoot....She's not necessarily "eating" it....But as others have said, fondant doesn't smash well , though it looks like the rest of cake is frosting right?
