Is grape juice ice pop as toxic as actual grapes for dogs? Update: heard from vet

Update #3:
Vet called back. Said as long as he seems fine, don't worry. It's just some types of grapes that affect some dogs that are predisposed.

Update #2:
Muscle spasms stopped soon after storm stopped, thank goodness and he went back to more of his regular personality. He's enjoyIng getting to lay on our pillows now ...

Update:
He crawled up to me trembling w/muscle spasms in chest (I hope it's not his heart!), back and hind legs. Also coincided w/start of thunderstorm. So hard to tell if it could be fear. I think this is the first Tstorm since we got him. Waiting to hear back from vet.

DH gave our dog a few licks of a natural grape juice ice pop, not knowing that grapes were toxic at the time. I just looked it up now. Stupid!!

We were thinking fruit=healthy

Do you think we need to follow the protocol for grape poisoning? He seems fine so far. It was about two hours ago, but he went to sleep soon after.

The protocol is pretty extreme, including inducing vomiting.

I can call the vet in the morning but it's almost midnight now. For actual grape ingestion, it says to take action immediately.

Does anyone have experience with this, please??

I personally would not freak over a few licks.
I've heard plenty of stories of dogs ingesting lots of "toxic" items and the worst that's happened is vomiting as long as it wasn't mass amounts.

Thank you so much for your reply! DH said same thing. We kept him in our bed so I could monitor him. So far, still fine, thank G-d!

I am neurotic with our dogs (my babies) and I would not worry about that at all. I am sure it's just the thunderstorm. A few licks of grape juice ice pop wont harm him I am sure. I know people whose dogs actually ate grapes, and never were harmed, although that would worry me and I would not ever give them grapes.

Thank you so much, Goobster! That makes me feel a lot better! I'm still new at this. I've never had a dog before and I'm usually so careful not to give him anything without googling safety first.
When I was young, it seemed my grandparents gave their dogs all kinds of table scraps & they never got sick!

Aww I'm sure it's from the storm and not from the grape pop. Poor pup. The thunder was insane this morning. My two giant dogs jumped in bed with DH and I, too!
