I've never heard of this, but I doubt it...
What if you work and are Jewish? When are you supposed to mow your lawn?

no way. my Dad mows the lawn on the weekends and he has definitely done so on Sunday

Is this your DH's way of getting out of mowing the lawn today?  My DH will be mowing at 3:00 when he gets home from work. 
Like Karen said, I think you can't mow before 8 am, but I personally wouldn't do it before 9.

Nah, DH isn't trying to get out of it, but his father always said that it was a law. DH always worked around Sundays but he has no choice this weekend. I don't think any of our neighbors will complain.
