Is it a phase or is something wrong? Updated - question about sleep apena...

DD's sleep is diminishing. She's 21 months. She has been doing a minimun of 8 -6 since 6 weeks old.

She was sleeping pretty much 8 -7 with a 2 hour nap. Now it's more like 8:30 - 6 with a 1 hour nap. What makes it worse is her overnight sleep it not sound. She's all over the crib and will have short crying spurts throughout the night. They only last a minute or 2, but it's waking her. She is clearly NOT getting enough sleep. She has bags under eyes and is CRANKY by 4pm. Yawning alot, etc.

We tried putting her to bed earlier, but she just plays until 8 - 8:30. Do you think something is bothering her? She has all her teeth (except her 2 year molars) so I'm not sure its teething.

Re: Is it a phase or is something wrong?

well I called the ped about her sleep issues. I'm only concerned because she has dark circles and is visibly exhausted. He asked if she is consolable - and I said yes. So he wants me to watch her at night for a 1/2 hour to see if she has sleep apena.

Anyone know anything about sleep apena? I don't want to google it - I always freak myself out that way. Was hoping someone with real life experience could enlighten me...

I don't know anything about it, but I hope you're able to figure out what's going on with her soon and she starts getting more sleep Chat Icon Chat Icon

Sleep apnea sounds so extreme! Ava will get up sometimes in the middle of the night, play and then go back down. She's a mover in her sleep too. She also wakes sometimes and cries a little, stands up...sometimes falls and hits her head on the aquarium and then goes right back to sleep.

I have attributed it to Dylan's arrival...and possibly her 2 year molars bothering her. Hopefully it's just a phase!Chat Icon

Hannah has been doing this since before Jack arrived - its just getting worse now. Today for the first time ever she woke up from her nap and started screaming.

With Hannah it's every night. DOes Ava do it every night? Hannah is not standing or sitting up, she's crying while still laying down. It happens about 3 times a night and at least once during her nap.

Definetly doesn't sound like sleep apnea. My mom has it. Its when you stop breathing in your sleep. Christopher does the same thing all the time. It was always from teething but lately I'm wondering if its nightmares.

No screaming every night. But she will get up and go back down. Could she have an ear infection?
