Is it at all possible for a cat to...
Kill bugs?
DH found a dead waterbug on the kitchen floor this morning ripped into pieces with the cat sitting on the floor near the area of where the bug was. In the 3 years we've been in this apartment we have never seen any waterbugs. It's possible that it came from one of the boxes that we had on top of the table. We ordered some stuff and put the boxes on the table. You just never know what you'll find in these boxes.
DH's theory is he crawled out of the box and was half alive (being cooped up in that box probably half killed him) so he made it out and when he hit the floor he was probably dying and the cat finished him off.
But could it be possible that the cat caught him and killed him and decapitated him?
We are certain the cat tore him to pieces because we found pieces everywhere, we're just no sure if the cat killed him originally, if so then I must say kudos to the cat. I don't like cats much but if they can kill nasty bugs then I may have found a use for them...

When the cat sits on the windowsill and sees one of those tiny bugs or a fly he goes nuts. So maybe he did kill the waterbug.
If he did kill him while he was still alive I wonder how he even caught him. Those suckers are hard to chase they are fast.
I know cats are fast too and if they can catch mice then I guess they can catch anything...

cats love to kill bugs. the cat i have now is able to just sit in the room and she can practically hear the bug on the wall. then she attempts to go after it, sometimes catching it and sometimes not. cats that i had previously to this one have done the same.

MY husband and I love it when out cats kill bugs! They kill them all the time...especially spiders! If I find a bug I Just yell SUKI!! Cornelius!! and one of them will come running and get the sucker!
