Is it bad luck?...... Gross, weird, funny and sad warning.
Standing outside with the two guys I work with and the weirdest thing happened.
My apprentice is really freaked out. A pigeon flew right by my one coworkers head, missing him by an inch. It then flies into my apprentices leg, lands on the curb, and dies? Is it bad luck? He is calling his mom and grandma and everything and they are just laughing.
So, what do you think? Bad luck?

My Chinese MIL would say "Dai Gut Lay See. Choy Choy Choy". So to some people it is bad luck but to others it is just a sad day for a bird.

Awesome answer! As far as a europea superstition, it is bad luck to have a bird fly into your house, not your head.

I'd be more worried about the gross germs from the pigeon hitting me than the bad luck. I HATE pigeons and have more than my share of close calls with them.

The guys looked at it (I stayed far far away) and said it was a tad beaten up, maybe it had gotten into a fight with another animal or hit a windshield first. I think it was just circumstance that my apprentices leg happened to be in the flight path. Either way, it was totally disgusting.
