Is it hard for you to part with clothes?

I am cleaning out my closets and I really want to get rid of a lot of stuff - but it's always so hard!! I have tons and tons of summer clothes that I haven't worn in years - either because they don't fit, or I just haven't worn them - yet I just can't seem to part with them!Chat Icon I always play the "What if" game as in - what if this comes back in style or what if I actually lose enough weight for this to fit again?
I'm always scared I'm gonna miss something!Chat Icon

I hear you. My rule now is that if I havent worn it in 6 months...I get rid of it.
It was so hard, but I had to do itChat Icon

I feel the same way - I have a triple dresser AND a closet full of clothes - and I only wear 1/2 of them!

Yep, totally, especially if there is some sentiment involved with the item. Being the wacko that I am, I remember EXACTLY what I wore on the first 4-5 dates with DH and I still have all those things, even though none of them fit and likely never will!

Re: Is it hard for you to part with clothes?

I have trouble getting rid of clothes too. If I don't really wear it anymore, I tend take it back to my parents' house and put it in one of the dressers in my old room.

No, I have the opposite problem. I throw everything out and then of course I look to wear it then realizing I threw it outChat Icon

Re: Is it hard for you to part with clothes?

I can get rid of other things out more easily than clothes or shoes. Now, I try to stick to the rule that for every new thing I buy, I have to get rid of one old thing. This also helps me keep my spending in check.

When I do get rid of clothes, I usually donate them - it makes me feel better knowing someone else might be able to get use out of them.Chat Icon

Ditto!!
And I have the rule that if I didn't wear it for that specific season, once the season is over, I get rid of it.

Re: Is it hard for you to part with clothes?

It is so hard for me to part with clothes. I have a sweater from 8th grade that I won't part with. I have 10 year old clothes and I love them as much as some of my 10 day old clothes.

I have a hard time giving really nice clothes to charity. I know I probably seem selfish and horrible but I would rather find a friend who can wear my old J Crew and Ann Taylor clothes that I don't like or can't wear anymore instead of giving them to charity where the people working there probably skim the good stuff off the top anyway.

Yes, I always hope to fit into the "skinny' clothes. Chat Icon They don't take up too much room, though.

When I got pg I finally threw away my skinny clothes- I decided if I get skinny again I deserve a new wardrobe.

I clean out my closet at the end of each season. Anything that I didn't wear that season or didn't fit me, I get rid of. Some articles I love and do find it's hard to part with.

Re: Is it hard for you to part with clothes?

I have a really difficult time parting with clothes. I have so many outfits from when I was 2 sizes smaller "just in case" I lose weight. They're taking up half of my closet and drawer space.
