Is it me or do the sleep sacks look huge?
I want to transition DD soon from a swaddle to a sleep sack, and I just took it out of the package and the small size looks huge! Is there any reason why it is so long?

They grow into them, and they are meant to be not constrictive.

You should see the extra large one then! 
I know that it gives DC enough room to roll around and not get too caught up in it at night. Then DS would also stand up in it when he would wake up in the morning, so it has to be big so that they can get up without tripping themselves up!
